The elite of Northern Ireland’s in-house and consultancy Public Relations practitioners gathered in November at Belfast’s Europa Hotel for the 2009 Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) PRide Awards.
Holywood-based consultancy, LJK Communications, claimed the gold award for Outstanding PR Consultancy while The Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People (NICCY) won the top award as Outstanding In-House PR team.
Belfast City Council picked up three gold awards and two silver in the best Newsletter; Leaflet; Integrated Communications and Best Newspaper/Magazine and Best Event categories respectively. Morrow Communications picked up a total of three gold awards for its work in the best Use of Social Media, Best Campaign £10k and under and Consumer Relations categories while fellow.
Other public sector gold award winners on the night were PSNI, Translink, Northern Ireland Water, Belfast Zoo and Big Lottery Fund and the Ulster Cancer Foundation from the charitable and voluntary sector. This year’s recipient of the CIPR NI’s Outstanding Contribution to PR Industry award was Jane Wells, managing director of jpr consultancy and Fellow of the CIPR while Simon Little of Phoenix Natural Gas won the Outstanding Young Communicator’s gold award.
The CIPR PRide Awards have grown in strength and stature, recognising public relations success and achievement in the nations and regions. With over 1,400 entries UK wide this year, the CIPR PRide Awards is the only awards scheme which showcases the best PR work being carried out across the UK regions and nations and sets industry standards.
There were over 125 entries in the Northern Ireland competition with 80 shortlisted from the public and private PR sectors.
