Ballymena company creates 17 new jobs

A Ballymena manufacturing company is in the process of creating 17 new jobs as part of a wide-ranging expansion.

Garage Door Systems is investing £2m in the move which will see investment in new manufacturing equipment and processes, the development of a marketing strategy and an upgrade of its production system. Invest Ni has offered £220,000 of assistance.

It manufactures and installs made-to-measure garage doors for both deomestic and business customers and currently employs 33 staff.
Garage Door Systems' Managing Director, Peter Doherty, said he wants to grow sales to Great Britain.

"We are currently the market leader in two of our three target markets and have recently identified and exploited opportunities to raise our profile and increase sales into the Great Britain market." he said. "To further build on this we are now recruiting additional staff and aim to push our GB sales up to over 70% of our turnover."

Invest NI chief executive Alastair Hamilton praised the company's eye for quality.
"The company's success has been driven by the quality of its products and service as well as a focus on innovation."
