Des Moore from First Trust Bank and chair of the Institute of Directors Paul Terrington launch the Director of the Year Awards

The hunt is on for Northern Ireland’s most dynamic business leaders as the Institute of Directors (IoD) launches its annual competition.

The 2014 IoD First Trust Bank Director of the Year Awards are open to all business leaders, whether they are IoD members or not, and are on the lookout for the best examples of leadership and corporate governance.

“The IoD First Trust Bank Director of the Year Awards is an opportunity for directors to receive the recognition they truly deserve for their continued determination, good corporate governance and exceptional standards in leadership within their organisations,” Paul Terrington, Chairman of the IoD NI, said.

“Northern Ireland is awash with business leaders who excel within their respective sectors. Testament to this is that all eight of our winners from last year’s awards have now been shortlisted for the UK Finals, which just goes to show how rich the pool of business talent is here in Northern Ireland.”

The awards are sponsored by First Trust Bank.

Speaking about the sponsorship, Des Moore, Head of First Trust Bank said:

“We believe these awards are an important platform to celebrate individual achievement among senior leadership here and will help recognise their contribution to the success of various organisations and the Northern Ireland economy as a whole.

The winners will be selected from a panel of leading business and media figures. Following that, each winner will then be nominated for the coveted IoD Lunn’s Award of Excellence.

Categories include: Director of the Year for a Large Company (over 250 employees) sponsored by 4C Executive Search; Young Director of the Year sponsored by Jaguar; Director of the Year for a Small and Medium Company (250 or fewer employees) sponsored by the Ulster Business School’s Centre for SME Development ; Public Sector Director of the Year sponsored by Capita Managed IT Solutions; Director of the Year for Leadership in Corporate Responsibility sponsored by Ulster Business; Family Business Director of the Year sponsored by BDO; International Director of the Year sponsored by the William J Clinton Leadership Institute; Non-Executive Director of the Year sponsored by First Trust Bank; Third Sector Director of the Year sponsored by First Trust Bank; Young Enterprise Director of the Year nominated by Young Enterprise NI and sponsored by Concentrix
