Action Cancer Firefighters Zorbing on the Lagan with Daredevil Zoe

Daredevil presenter Zoe Salmon was joined by NIFRS Firefighters Tommy Monahan and Peter Turley at Bryson LaganSports this week for the launch of Action Cancer's exciting new adventure challenge - 'Zorbing on the Lagan'.

Taking place on Saturday 17th September Action Cancer Patron Zoe says; “Sign up today for Action Cancer's new fun-filled water zorbing event ‘Zorbing on the Lagan’. You can take part individually or in teams with family, friends and colleagues, and battle it out against the clock to achieve the greatest number of rotations in your zorb”.

“Zorbing is great fun! Everyone is going to have such a laugh. It's much more difficult than it looks and so competitive. On the day two giant inflatable water zorbs will be anchored in the centre of the River Lagan and you’re taken out to your zorb in a rescue boat”.

Firefighter Tommy Monhan had his first experience of zorbing says; “Get into the zorb head first and if you can stand up, that’s great! Work out your tactics and go for it. I am looking forward taking on my colleagues now that I have a practice run with former Blue Peter Presenter Zoe”.

Water Zorbing is a great spectator event with participants encouraged to come in fancy dress. Bryson LaganSports based on the Ravenhill Road has a viewing gallery and jetty on-site.  Friends and family can also watch from Belfast’s landmark Albert Bridge.

Sign up today, individually or in teams of four with friends, family or colleagues. Registration costs £20 per person and all participants are asked to raise a minimum sponsorship of £80, the amount it costs Action Cancer to provide a digital breast screening for one woman aged 40-49 or 70 plus.

Zoe added “We know that it is vitally important to detect cancer at an early and treatable stage, and your fundraising and donations could be life-saving for a local woman. By getting involved in this unique event you will not only be guaranteed a fun-filled day, but also an amazing sense of achievement at having raised vital funds for our charity”.

Join Action Cancer for what promises to be great day’s craic! To sign up today contact Action Cancer Events Team on 028 9080 3379, email acreighton@actioncancer.org or visit www.actioncancer.org.
