In June 2011 the company announced 55 jobs had been created as they opened the new £2m Hughes Insurance facility at company headquarters in Newtownards.
The Newtownards-based company has already recruited 44 staff in 2012 and is forecasting that its headcount will be more than 300 by the end of August.
The broker also said it now has a 21% share of the car insurance market – an increase on last year’s reported figures.
Leslie Hughes, Chairman of Hughes Insurance, said: “Last year we put the infrastructure in place to support our projected growth – this year we are delivering against it. We are targeting a 25% market share – meaning we aim to insure one in four drivers in Northern Ireland. The company has come a long way in the past 35 years – but our ethos has never changed, we still focus on combining the most competitive and comprehensive car insurance available in Northern Ireland with the best customer service. Our ongoing growth illustrates our commitment to this ethos and we anticipate further recruitment as we continue to grow our personal and commercial insurance lines. Expansion into new markets is also very much on the agenda.”
Gareth Brady, Chief Executive of Hughes Insurance added: “Our challenge is to continue to complement our growth with the ongoing recruitment of staff that are of the highest calibre. We are proud to say we have the best staff in the sector and, aligned with Leslie’s ethos, we remain committed to their personal development to ensure we continue to deliver the best support available in the marketplace.”
