Harold Megahey and Chuckelberry

Harold Megahey and Chuckelberry

Local teen has been selected for the Junior Irish Eventing Team and their medal-winning campaign in Europe.

County Antrim’s Harold Megahey and the experienced grey gelding Chuckelberry have made the Irish junior eventing team and are preparing for the FEI European Eventing Championships for Juniors in Strzegom, Poland next month with the support of Barclay Communications.

The Belfast based business communications company have been sponsoring Harold Megahey since his entry into the junior eventing field.

The company stated that they’re proud to see him ride for Ireland and wish the entire Irish team all the best in Strzegom.

Remarkably 17 year old Harold and 13 year old Chuckelberry only began their partnership in March, but they’ve already made a significant impact in the junior Irish eventing field, landing a top three placing in six out of seven of their major outings, and their selection onto the Irish junior eventing team.

At the three day event in Poland Harold Megahey will be hoping to reproduce the pair’s recent form as he makes his debut in the Irish team and at the Championships.

A junior eventer since 2010, Harold frequently placed within the top 10 at Eventing Ireland events, but Chuckelberry was the horse that brought him up through the junior rankings and onto the team.

Straight from the yard of Olympic Irish Eventer Joseph Murphy, Chuckelberry has a wealth of experience and has been previously competed by Olympic medal-winning William Fox-Pit and Mark Todd.

Now settled with Harold the consistent duo are set to impress within the Irish junior team at the European Eventing Championships and into the future.
