Ulster Business School Celebrates Student Success

Eighteen accounting students from throughout Northern Ireland and China have received top awards from the Ulster Business School.

Recognising excellence from under graduate to post graduate standard the Awards were presented at the annual Ulster Business School's Student Awards event organised by the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics.

Speaking at the Awards ceremony Professor Gillian Armstrong, Head of the Department, said, "These Awards recognise the top performers across the range of Accounting, Finance and Economics related programmes, which although challenging, provide significant opportunities for students and graduates. The Ulster Business School prides itself on delivering courses which enable students to not only reach their academic potential but also allows them to experience the practical application and professional orientation of these areas. Whilst past perceptions would have linked a career in accounting to a daily round of counting and calculators the reality is a profession bursting with variety and exposure to a vast array of business opportunities. The fact that so many of our leading accountancy, consultancy and financial services firms are engaged with both the Awards and the learning experience at the Ulster Business School is testament to the importance of the integrated approach towards preparing students for careers across the business sector."

A total of eighteen employer sponsored awards were presented. Sponsors included Ernst and Young, KPMG, CIMA Ireland, PwC, HSBC, BDO, Citi Group, CISI, Chartered Accountants Ireland, ACCA, CPA, Baker Tilly Mooney Moore, Henry Murray and Co. and ASM.
