Organised by Craigavon Borough Council's Development Department, in association with Portadown Chamber of Commerce and Lurgan Chamber of Commerce, the high-profile gala ceremony in Craigavon Civic and Conference Centre showcased Craigavon's business calibre.
On this, the last Craigavon Business Awards before the reform of Local Government, SlurryKat, a company that is no stranger to success on this platform, came away with three awards including the prestigious 2014 Craigavon Legacy Award and the Best Export Initiative Award. SlurryKat's Garth Cairns accepted this award from Mayor of Craigavon Councillor Mark Baxter on a night of record success for the company.
Mayor of Craigavon, Councillor Mark Baxter said:
"The Borough of Craigavon is a hub of business innovation and inspirational business people who have helped improve the economic climate in the local area. This wealth of business expertise is something we are all very proud of. I would like to extend my thanks to the event sponsors and those who helped to organise a very special night."
There were 14 award categories in total, with The Meat Cleaver claiming a trio having also been named Best Urban Business and Best Independent Retailer. Best New Business went to Scallywags of Lurgan, New Forge House claimed the Best Green Business, JH Label winning the Most Innovative Business Category whilst Ballydougan Pottery were awarded Tourism and Hospitality Business of the Year.
Chair of the Council's Development Committee, Councillor Carla Lockhart, said:
"This has been one of the most competitive awards since the initiative's inception in 2010 with the quality of each company being so high. It is with great pride we recognise the achievements of our local business people and we're confident that this year's winners will inspire other local organisations to strive towards business success."
Other winners on the night included Icons Coffee (Best Restaurant or Food Provider), BNL Productions (Best Creative Business), Funky Monkeys (Best Multiple Retailer) and Segway NI (Best Rural Business).
Sponsors for the awards include ALMAC, Portadown Chamber of Commerce, Lurgan Chamber of Commerce, Craigavon Industrial Development Organisation (CIDO), John Lambe Photography, Bank of Ireland, Invest Northern Ireland and Moy Park.
