Belfast City Airport has been named ‘airport of the year’ at an international aviation industry event.
It won the gong at the Aviation Industry Awards, a bi-annual commercial aviation industry competition.
George Best Belfast City Airport was shortlisted alongside Greater Toronto Airports Authority, and Heathrow Airport.
Katy Best, commercial director at Belfast City Airport, said: “It is an honour to be named ‘Airport of the Year’ and we are extremely grateful to everyone who took the time to vote and help us secure the top spot.”
“Last year, we announced a £15m investment into our facilities and the feedback so far has been incredible. Topping the public vote is a constructive and encouraging indicator that we are ticking the right boxes with both inbound and outbound passengers.”
